About the group
Mumiy Troll is the legendary and brightest representative of Russian rock. More than one generation has grown up on their compositions. And now the adult children of the first admirers of the group listen to the hits and new songs of Mumiy Troll. This is not surprising, because the group has been performing on the stage since 1983 and to this day remains in the field of view of the post-Soviet show business. On the radio, you can still find their compositions in rotation, which were popular decades ago and remain so today.
This is a timeless band, beyond any musical canons. The special manner of performance and the velvety voice of Ilya Lagutenko can be recognized by thousands of other performers. For such a long period of creativity, the collective has hundreds of concerts under its belt, and many awards with the epithet "the best" flaunt on the shelves.
Not many rock performers, and indeed representatives of show business, can boast of a mark in the Book of Records. But Mumiy Troll can. In 2011, the group spent one day in a concert in the two most distant cities of Russia. First, at 11 am the guys played in Vladivostok, and by 10 pm local time they got there and died down on the stage of Kaliningrad. Such a temporary breakthrough gave Mumiy Troll every right to be noted in the Guinness Book of Records of Russia.
The creative activity of the group is quite high. Mumiy Troll gathers not only full halls of fans, but also entire stadiums, and tickets for concerts are sold out in the first hours of announcements. Therefore, if you see Mumiy Troll's poster in your city - do not hesitate for a minute, feel free to buy tickets, otherwise, you may not be in time later.
Group history
Mumiy Troll's biography is quite interesting. Ilya Lagutenko was hatching his idea of creating a group from the very beginning of the 80s. Then he gathered a team of his classmates and named it "Boney-P". The boys played psychedelic rock and sang in English. In 1982, new members were added to the team, and the name of the group was changed to "SHOCK", and Russian-language compositions appeared in the repertoire.
In 1983, in the middle of October, the rock group began to call itself "Moomin Troll", in honour of their favourite characters, which were narrated by the Finnish writer Tove Jansson. In the 90s, Ilya Lagutenko jokingly calls his colleagues mummies during one of the concerts. Thus, the final name of the Mumiy Troll collective appeared.
An interesting fact is that from 1987 to 1990, the group, one might say, did not exist. The reason for this decision was the call of Ilya Lagutenko to the army ranks of the Navy. After the newly assembled group was even able to release an album. And even though there was some future Mumiy Troll hits, at that time the work did not have a response from the people. The musicians were quiet for 6 years.
Since 1997, a "new breath" has begun for the team. But before that, there were some difficulties, since Soviet music experts could not attribute the special work of Mumiy Troll to either pop sound or rock. Thus, Ilya Lagutenko invented a new style and called it rockapops. This period is the most successful and stellar for Mumiy Troll. It was then that the world learns about the compositions "Utekay", "Vladivostok 2000", "Devochka", "Dolphins" and others.
A group from Vladivostok in 2001 will have the honour to represent their country at the most prestigious Eurovision Song Contest and will take 12th place.
Also, the team actively tours not only the cities of their native country but also performs in Japan, America, Denmark, Germany and even dares to visit the coldest island — Greenland.
Collaborations
The rock band from Vladivostok, which conquered the entire planet, is trying to keep up with the times. Therefore, he often creates collaboration works with the participation of popular contemporary artists.
In 2016, for the film "Yolki 5" Ilya Lagutenko, together with the singer Yolka, will perform the famous poem by Alexander Kochetkov "S liubimimi ne rastavajtes", which many know as the soundtrack of the film "Irony sudbu".
To create the last album, Ilya Lagutenko invited the Kazakh rapper Skryptonite and the Russian rapper with Ukrainian roots T-Fest. Thus, the world heard the compositions "Kutit" and "Ne tselujas".
An undoubted hit is the duet work of Mumiy Troll and the group Filatov & Karas "Amore sea, goodbye".
